Innovative HVAC Systems Offered by SoBellas Las Cruces AC and Heat Repair and Installation

New products and services designed especially for Las Cruces climate conditions

Las Cruces NM – SoBellas Air Conditioning and Heating Repair recently announced the introduction of a new line of HVAC products designed specifically for the Las Cruces area climate.

Michael LaBeau, owner of SoBellas explained, “Climate varies dramatically across the country and manufacturers tend to build one-size-fits-all products. Our conditions are unique enough that we decided to design a system specifically for the Las Cruces area and work with manufacturers to produce a product to our specification. When we had the system design we wanted we chose to put our own name on it – “SoBellas Signature Series.”

According to Laeau, one of the greatest advantages to offering his own line of HVAC equipment is affordability. Because the manufacturer simply builds to spec, the cost is less for the company and the savings is passed on to the customer.

The cost of television advertising and manufacturer incentive trips for heating and cooling technicians drives up the cost of the product. The customer ultimately pays for these incentive trips enjoyed by the air conditioning and heating repair man. SoBellas Home Services (http://www.airconditioningandheatingrepairlascruces.com/) does not provide these trips and there is no additional TV advertising so the customer enjoys a great product for a lower cost.

The central air conditioning unit is only part of the system SoBellas offers. AC and heating systems are comprised of a number of components that are engineered to work together for optimal comfort and energy savings. Some components are not interchangeable. Mismatched components and improperly designed systems might work for a while, but it will use more energy and reduce the life of the equipment.

Consumers can save on air conditioning and heating repair and installation with a new line of products designed exclusively for SoBellas customers. Contact SoBellas for an engineering analysis of a home or business and learn more about their products at http://www.sobellas.com/

AC and Heating Myth about Saving Energy

AC and Heating Las Cruces NM:  The HVAC system is designed to work efficiently and maintain the desired temperature in the home. No matter how efficient the system is it can be costly to use during extremely hot summer days and freezing winter nights.  Many people will close up rooms that they do not use every day because they think this will save them money.  This is a commonly believed myth that can do more harm than good.  The local heating and AC repair man explains:

Most people believe closing a bedroom door will improve HVAC efficiency by reducing the space that needs to be heated or cooled.  They are convinced this practice will lower their energy bills.  To the average homeowner this makes good economical sense.  Maintaining a comfortable temperature in the seldom used room is not necessary.

According to the local heating and cooling specialist the opposite is actually true.  Closing doors blocks airflow and creates pressure in the room.  The trapped air will find a way out and the lost air will need to be replaced.  This can actually increase the amount of air being drawn and result in significantly higher energy expenses.

The replacement will find its way in through sources like the chimney, water heater or furnace vent and cause the home to be drafty.  Because the air isn't coming through the furnace or AC, it is not filtered, so it can be dirty, dusty, humid and it can be a carbon monoxide risk.  Keeping rooms closed up can cause damage to your home or danger to the family in the form of high carbon monoxide levels or possible mold or mildew growth.

The good news is there are several ways to solve this issue.  The easiest way would be to cut about 12 – 14 inches off the bottom of the door, but it doesn’t look nice at all.  Few people will sacrifice aesthetics for energy savings.  Leaving the door open is even better, but doesn’t work for people who like to keep doors closed to hide a messy room or keep pets and children out.

The best, but costly and labor intensive solution is to install cold air returns in every room.   This is the best way to maintain even airflow throughout the entire house when doors are closed.  Another idea is to have transfer grills installed in the door to improve airflow in closed up rooms.  These should only be installed by a qualified heating and cooling specialist to ensure proper air circulation.  Improper installation will not guarantee the desired results.

Simply keeping bedroom doors closed is not the way to improve HVAC efficiency and may actually increase utility bills.  Leaving r doors open, installing cold air returns or putting in transfer grills are all effective ways to improve air circulation and save energy.  Read Energy Efficient Home Heating and Cooling to learn more.

HVAC Maintenance Checklist

HVAC Maintenance Service Las Cruces NM:  All heating and cooling equipment requires maintenance to prevent problems and ensure longevity.  HVAC maintenance prevents hazards and unwanted repair costs.  Be sure to have your heating and cooling contractor do regularly scheduled inspections and maintenance to keep your system operating safely and efficiently.  Here is an HVAC Maintenance Checklist so you know what to expect:

Heating and Cooling System Inspection and Maintenance

  • Thermostat settings for comfort when home or energy savings when away
  • Check electrical connections and measure voltage and current on motors.  Faulty connections can be a safety hazard and cause damage to major components.
  • Lubricate moving parts to avoid inefficient operation and damage caused by friction
  • Check the condensate drain in the central air conditioner, furnace and heat pump to prevent water damage to the home and control humidity
  • Check all system controls to ensure safe and proper operation during entire cycle
  • Clean evaporator and condenser coils to maintain peak performance and efficiency
  • Check the refrigerant level and adjust f necessary
  • Clean and adjust blower components to provide proper airflow for greater comfort levels
  • Check gas connections and heat exchanger.  Bad connections cause leaks which can be a fire hazard and a waste of energy.  A dirty burner or cracked heat exchanger can be a carbon monoxide hazard and lead to inefficient operation.
  • DIY HVAC Maintenance – Inspect, clean or change air filters as specified in the service manual.  A dirty filter can increase energy costs and lead to system failure.

This HVAC System Maintenance Checklist can be used by the DIY enthusiast or the homeowner who wants to be sure the contractor is doing a thorough job.  Keeping the system working properly will make a big difference in energy savings.  Read Energy Efficient Home Heating and Cooling to learn more.

Energy Star Air Conditioning

Las Cruces Air Conditioning and Heating Systems:  The average homeowner spends about $1,000 per year for heating and cooling, which is nearly half the total utility expense.  If the central air conditioning unit is over 12 years old then replacing it with an Energy Star model could cut cooling cost by about 30%.

To earn the Energy Star rating, all products must meet strict energy efficiency guidelines put in place by the US EPA.  Consumers who choose Energy Star certified heating and cooling systems enjoy more efficient temperature control and lower utility bills.  In addition to a better performing system, enjoy knowing that you are helping to protect the environment by reducing harmful carbon pollution and other greenhouse gasses produced.

Energy Star rated central air conditioners have higher seasonal energy efficiency ratio (SEER) and energy efficiency ratio (EER) ratings which make them more efficient than other models.

Since the central air conditioner requires a blower motor, typically part of the furnace, it may be necessary to replace the furnace for optimum efficiency.  Replacing the furnace is especially recommended if it is more than 15 years old.  This way, both units are compatible and you won’t be spending more money in the long run by replacing only one or the other which may require additional labor to make both components work efficiently together.

The best way to enjoy a highly-efficient heating and cooling system is to purchase both the furnace and central air conditioning unit as a packaged system that is designed to work together.  Connecting a new, Energy Star air conditioner to an old furnace will not perform efficiently.
